TANIDA is a non-profit organization that aims to facilitate the integration of R&D efforts at universities, research institutions and industry to accelerate the commercialization of nanotechnology and to meet industries’ needs of developing high valued-added products and technology.
Nanotechnology has become a priority for many nations and is being actively invested worldwide. It is believed that expeditious and measured advancements in the field can lead to the next industrial revolution with far-reaching social and economic impact. To this end, Taiwan Nanotechnology Industry Development Association (TANIDA) was founded on July 7th, 2004 to service the nascent industry by 57 distinguished members from public associations, industries, universities and research institutions.
Tanida’s mission includes:

- Assist in the creation of regulations and reward principles for nanotechnology development
- Promote key initiatives in nanotechnology R & D and investment
- Serve as a channel for technical knowledge exchange to foster the establishment of a self-sustaining nanotechnology industry
- Organize nanotechnology symposia and open-house events
One of the most well known activities that tanida organizes is an award designed to encourage innovation in Taiwanese nanotechnology, promote the industrialization of nanotechnology, and motivate and accelerate the application of academic R&D by industry. Prizes are given annually for top innovations in nanotechnology. The candidates of nano-tech award include individuals, academic groups, and industry teams. The individual or group representative should be a ROC (Taiwan) citizen, who has made an excellent contribution on promoting nanotechnology.
Tanida has also registered the trademark “NANO MARK” as a way to establish a Nanoproduct Certification System, in order to enhance quality and image of nanotechnology products, to protect consumers’ rights, and to further promote the development of the national nanotechnology industry.
